Circles of Change

Posted July 30th, 2007

Keeping up with the continuous circle of change here at the Hostel a lot of new things happening in the forest to update you all with this week. Mike Joe and Ken have left the forest to travel up to Maine and visit our dear friend Dennis and help out on his homestead for awhile, but in their departing the forest has brought back some Hostel family to help out for a while. ‘Tree’ is here once again bringing love, light and chocolate with him and our always productive Mattchew is here working hard on projects. With the help of Hanoch, Erin and the always wonderful and willing Hostel guests, things are moving along in a very positive direction. A new dinner table has been built. The old dock has been refurbished and made to good use over by our fruit orchard out by the lake, and the chicken tractor and craft room have been given some much needed tender loving care.

As always the forest does provide us with what is needed and things are going well here, however even with all the new staff members coming so quickly we are still in need of a kitchen manager, as our current kitchen manager will soon be leaving to return to his teaching job in Florida.

The rain is continuing to provide a more constant source of refreshment to the land and we have started to see a rise in the water levels out in the duck pond, so thank you to all those keeping us in your thoughts and prayers! The rain also had a hand in a change of plans for our sweat lodge this month. Even though the lodge was rained out, Tom did lead a question and answer circle in the glass house with the would be lodge participants, which formed a sense of connection and growth for many who were there. So thank you to all that were there and helped make the “sweat lodge” all that it was!

With the sweat lodge over we can start to focus on the Midwife Weekend coming up August 10th. There is still space available, but please call soon to make reservations as we’re only taking a small number of guests that weekend!

Also thank you to everyone that’s been calling with interest in helping out with the Mind, Body and Spirit Retreat its greatly appreciated we couldn’t do it with out you!

Until next week,

May The Forest Be With You
