Update from the Forest

Posted July 16th, 2007

As the forest grows hotter, we’ve found ourselves spending a lot more time in the pool. Between swimming and late-night Uno games, we’re managing to survive the southern humidity, And Sunday night, we held a scrabble tournament, which was loads of fun. In Hostel fowl news, our baby ducks are doing well since their release into the wild last week. The same can’t be said for the Hostel chicken flock, who are growing to immense size. We gave away another six of the young chickens this week, and we’re thankful to our friend Floyd for giving them a good home.

More thanks also goes out to Kristen Bowman, who made us diner on Friday. The kitchen has begun posting recipes on the website, check out the kitchen recipe section for more info.

Mike Joe has once again returned to the forest to help out. He’ll be staying here for a week. After that, he’s headed up to Maine to help another hostel family member, Dennis, who is building a hostel up there. He’ll be taking Ken with him, another one of our staff, which means that the forest will be in need of more caretakers. If anyone is interesting in coming to help, please give us a call!

Until next time,

May The Forest Be With You…
